Wimborne Deanery is linked with Yambio and Nzara Diocese in Western Equatoria.
At Wimborne Minster, prayers are regularly held for our partners in Yambio and Nzara.
History of Wimborne Deanery link
- In January 2013, Revd Vanessa Herrick, the Minster Rector, Chris Tebbutt, Wimborne Rural Dean and Sheila Soper spent 2 weeks in Yambio & Nzara teaching & developing our partnership with the people there.
- Funding from the Deanery was used for bicycles and motorbikes for the Pastors in Yambio & Nzara.
- The Rotary club in Wimborne and Rotary International raised money for projects to repair the ECS primary school in Yambio and to help with health projects in Nzara.
- Funding for student support was provided for the Bishop Gwynne Theological College in Juba.
- Sheila Soper strengthened the links between Wimborne Deanery and Yambio and Nzara by her work with the Mothers' Union.
Current activities
All are welcome to join Wimborne Deanery, every Friday, for homemade soup, bread and cakes, for only £5! Join at 12:00, Church House, High St, Wimborne BH21 1HT. Lunch and Chat lunches are served to raise money for the Medical Link, this raises around £2,000 per year.
